S-METV, Channel 16

S-METV signed on the air in the fall of 1998 from the control room and studios of the new Scarcella Science and Technology Center on the campus of Houston Community College-Southwest, Stafford. At the time, there was little more than a "test-pattern." Today, S-METV fulfills its main mission in making government accessible to the citizens of Stafford by televising most city government meetings "Live" and televising other programs of interest to the people of Stafford.

All of these meetings are repeated daily for at least a week. In addition, S-METV televises special events and other meetings "Live" from City Hall, the Stafford Centre, and the Stafford Civic Center. Staff and students in the Broadcast Technology Department of Houston Community College-Southwest produce the Stafford Weekly News and Stafford Magazine and many other programs devoted to schools, both HCC-SW and the Stafford Municipal School District, and business and other topics of interest to the people of Stafford. Meetings of the SMSD Board of Trustees will soon be televised on Channel 16, and there is more to come.
